Man jailed and caned for raping his own mother
An unemployed man was sentenced to 20 years' jail and was ordered to caned 16 times by a Malaysian court for raping his own mother.
Looking calm when the charges were read to him, the unidentified 27-year-old pleaded guilty to two charges of raping his 50-year-old mother not once, but twice, reported The Borneo Post.
Ordering that the jail sentence be served concurrently, the judge found him guilty on both charges and sentenced him to 20 years in jail and eight strokes of the cane for each charge.
According to the Utusan Online, the accused faced a maximum of 30 years' jail for each charge.
He raped his mother at their house twice in quick succession in the early morning of Feb 19.
According to the facts of the case, the accused, who is the eldest child of the family, raped his mother when she was sleeping.
During the incident, the victim tried to scream for help but her mouth was covered by a pillow.
During the second rape, one of his siblings realised what was happening and pushed him off his mother.
The accused then tried to run away from the house.
His siblings immediately brought the victim to make a police report at the Tapah police station.
The accused's mitigation?
He hoped that the court could give him a light sentence because it was his first offence.
