Man jailed for hacking Prime Minister's Office website

28-year-old Singaporean man was jailed for two months on Monday for defacing the Prime Minister's Office website last year.

Mohammad Azhar Tahir, who is unemployed, had pleaded guilty to "unauthorised modification" of a section of the website on Nov 7, causing it to display mocking messages and pictures from international hacker group Anonymous.

Court documents said the man had injected a computer code into the server of the website, causing a section of it to be compromised.

The hacked section was removed in the early hours of Nov 8.

Mohammad Azhar has not commented on any ties with Anonymous.

The man was also jailed for an additional four months for mooching off a neighbour's wireless Internet service and modifying social media and e-mail accounts belonging to Ah Boys To Men actor Muhammad Ridhwan Azman, reported The Straits Times.
