Man stabs 8 kids at primary school in China

A man went on a rampage on Monday at a primary school in China's Hubei province, stabbing eight children and a teacher.

At least three kids died and two were seriously injured in the attack at Dongfang Primary School in Yunxi County, official news agency Xinhua reported.

The man, whose surname is Chen, then jumped from a building, killing himself.

The incident took place at around 10.20am on the first day of the new school year.

Local broadcaster Shiyan Television said on its Sina Weibo account that the knife-wielding man carried out the attack “because he couldn’t enrol his child” at the school.

Police are investigating the case.
