Man, travel agency fined for unlicensed activities

A man and a travel agency were yesterday fined $31,500 and $25,500 respectively for unlicensed travel agent activities.

Too Chon Seng was found guilty of carrying on the business of a travel agent without a valid licence. He was convicted of 21 charges, and 41 were taken into consideration.

Travel GSH (TGSH) was convicted for abetting him. It was convicted of 17 charges, with 33 taken into consideration.

Too was found to have started his unlicensed activities in 2010 under his company, Choon Seng Travel Tours.

While he claimed to be a freelance agent acting on behalf of licensed travel agent TGSH, investigations showed that Too had operated as an unlicensed travel agent in his own right.

He organised and conducted tours, and arranged for coach charters and airline tickets, with the abetment of TGSH.
