Monkey shirt on 'black child' hanger creates controversy

This is the latest entry for the "You Had One Job" meme.

A T-shirt of a monkey's body hung on hanger with a black child's face has created a buzz on Twitter when the photo was uploaded on Wednesday.

According to New York Daily News, the children's clothing line Just Add A Kid said it was "a total misunderstanding", claiming it was the fault of the retailer who hung the shirt.

"The widely-distributed and inappropriate picture... was not authorised, condoned or tolerated by our company," it said in a statement released to the public.

Clothing company Just Add A kid also tried to do damage control by explaining its designs on Twitter.

"The head shots on our hangers are intended (to) reflect the different cultures of our happy customers, and are distributed separately to our shirts."

"In this particular case, one of our retailers paired a particular hanger with a shirt without consideration for how it may appear to many consumers."

Even hanging a T-shirt is now harder than it sounds.
