M'sia customs officers seize 16 luxury cars with S'pore plates during raid
Malaysia customs officers seized 16 luxury cars with Singapore registration numbers while raiding a house in Rawang, Selangor.
Officers were investigating a case of tax evasion on Friday when they discovered the cars at a two-storey house at Bandar Country Homes at around 3pm. The cars were of brands such as Mazda, Audi and Honda.
It is believed that the first storey of the house was used for storage while the second storey was used as living space.
Modified, then re-registered
The Star reported that foreign cars were being modified in the area before being re-registered locally.
Twelve of the cars were sent to the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) for temporary safekeeping. The rest will be brought in later.
The council will be taking action against the owner of the house for wrongful use of the building.
Neighbours reportedly had no idea about the illegal activities happening in the area until the raid took place.
