M'sia woman robbed at gunpoint, saved by police roadblock
This is one of the rare occasions where we're actually glad to see a police roadblock.
Two robbers forced their victim out of their car and fled after realising they were approaching a barrier set up by the authorities in Sabah.
The victim, a 35-year-old woman, had boarded what she thought was an illegal taxi on Monday at around 11.30am.
There were two men in the vehicle - the driver and another man sitting in the back seat.
Hand over valuables
The car travelled a short distance before the man in the back pulled out a pistol and demanded that the woman hand over her valuables.
Just then, the driver noticed that they were approaching a roadblock.
He stopped the vehicle a distance away and turned it around.
His actions attracted the attention of the police, who chased the vehicle.
The robbers stopped the vehicle again and forced the woman out before fleeing.
Beluran police chief Supt V Sivanathan said they are seeking assistance from their Lahad Datu counterparts in tracking down the robbers and their vehicle.
