Nor Laila Razak, 33, was five months pregnant when she fell into a coma last October due to encephalitis - an inflammation of the brain.

But last month (Jan 15), doctors at a Terengganu hospital in Malaysia managed to successfully deliver her baby girl while she remained comatose.

The delivery was performed via caesarian section, according to Harian Metro.

Her husband Rusili Usof said:

"She (the baby) is a bit underweight, but is healthy and was discharged from the hospital on Sunday.
"But I am sad for my wife who is still in a coma."

Despite suffering heartache over his wife's condition, Mr Rusili was still elated over the birth of his daughter, Noor Shafikah, and praised doctors for saving her life.

Concerns about her aside, he is also worried about not receiving welfare aid despite applying for it months back.

Every day, the 33-year-old fisherman continues to travel about 90km by motorcycle to visit his wife in hospital.
