The police also shared pictures and released footage taken from CCTVs earlier in the day which appeared to show the mother and child entering the Columbus Circle station, reported The Independent.
The 20-year-old woman (in sunglasses) was arrested after this CCTV footage was released.
The footage showed the mother pushing the stroller out of a train and leaving the child alone at the station.
A passer-by later found the girl and called the police after waiting for 20 minutes.
The police said they believed that the baby had been left at the station intentionally as no one inquired about her. Investigations are ongoing.
The baby was taken to hospital where she was found to be in a stable condition. She was then placed in a government children care service, police said.
