No additional family care leave for now

There will be no additional family care leave for employees for now, said Senior Minister of State for Manpower Amy Khor in Parliament yesterday.

Dr Khor said that although the ministry is aware of the ageing population and decreasing family size, it is also mindful that mandating more leave would impact businesses.

Jurong GRC MP David Ong had asked if the ministry would consider statutory paid caregiver leave for employees who have to be secondary caregivers to ailing parents, siblings or children who are not mobile.

Dr Khor also called for more employers to adopt work-life practices such as family care leave beyond statutory requirements and flexible work arrangements to attract good workers in a tight labour market.
