Beekeeper breaks own Guinness record

The "king of bees" has done it again - and broken his own Guinness World Record.

Chinese beekeeper Gao Bingguo earned himself the title after coating his body with a 109kg "bee suit" yesterday (May 25) in Tai'an city, Shandong province.

He spread honey on his body to attract the first round of queen bees, which helpers had poured on to him.

Not long after, swarms of worker bees followed, covering his body to create a bee suit of sorts, Chinese media like Chinanews.com and ifeng News reported.

It's not just a painful spectacle for onlookers: Gao claimed he was stung over 2,000 times in the process and had practiced the stunt more than 60 times.

That's not the only challenge he faced.

Since one kilogram of bees contain about 10,000 insects, imagine enduring more than a million bees buzzing around - and even stinging - your body.

After the bees were removed, Gao immediately immersed himself in a tub of warm water to ease the stinging pain.

Gao, who's in his 50s, has been raising bees for over 30 years. His previous record was covering himself with 85.5kg of bees.
