One-year-old boy dies after lorry rams vehicles at Bukit Kajang toll plaza, 8 injured
A one-year-old boy was killed, and eight other people were injured in a four-vehicle accident at the Bukit Kajang toll plaza on Sept 27.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the distress call was received at about 11am that day.
"The vehicles involved were a four-wheel drive, a car, a sports utility vehicle and a lorry," he said.
"The child was trapped underneath the four-wheel drive. We managed to extricate him, but he was pronounced dead by medical officers." Mr Mukhlis added that a man was also trapped under the same vehicle but was rescued and sent to hospital for treatment.
"Seven others were also injured and were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment," he said.
Video footage of the accident shared on social media shows a six-wheeler lorry travelling at speed before crashing into two vehicles which had been queuing at the toll plaza.
Another clip, of the aftermath of the accident, shows a mangled car at the toll plaza entrance, and the six-wheeler tipped onto its side on the other side of the plaza.
