Did mum jump after slashing son?

This article is more than 12 months old

At Springdale Condominium in Bukit Timah, a mother is believed to have repeatedly slashed her 12-year-old son before she was found dead at the bottom of the apartment block.

The New Paper understands that the boy woke his father up at 5am, claiming someone wanted to kill him.

The father thought it was a dream till he noticed his son's clothes had been slashed and were stained with blood.

The boy had been slashed at least five times, with one gash cutting close to his heart.

An ambulance rushed to the scene and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told TNP the boy had injuries to his back, chest and on an arm.

His father went with him in the ambulance to the National University Hospital (NUH).

But the mother was nowhere to be found.

At 7am, the authorities got another call from a resident in the same estate.

A woman's body had been found among some bushes.

Police said she was found motionless and SCDF paramedics later pronounced the 45-year-old dead.

She was the boy's mother.

Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao reported that the couple were married in 1994, but had relationship problems in the past five years and rarely spoke to each other.

The paper reported that the woman also had many health problems before her death.

She frequently went to a clinic with her maid.

When Wanbao reporters visited NUH yesterday morning, the boy was in a paediatric intensive care unit. Relatives present declined to comment.

They have also been hiding the news of his mother's death from the boy.

Worried about his son, the father requested relatives not to mention his mother's death to him.

Should the boy ask about her, they were instructed to say that she had left.

Another death had occurred at the same condominium on March 4.

An 85-year-old woman was murdered, allegedly by her 24-year-old Myanmar maid, Than Than Win.

Madam Yong Wan Lan was found motionless on the floor of her eighth-storey unit with wounds on her upper body.

Than is in remand at Changi Women's Prison.
