From overweight girl to pageant queen
As a teen, she weighed about 104kg and was bullied by her schoolmates.
But Keli Kryfko decided that enough was enough so she sought to make a drastic change in her lifestyle.
And she succeeded. Kryfko is now the reigning Miss South Texas pageant queen.
Her next step? Becoming MIss America.
Kryfko says the pivotal moment in her life was overhearing her school mates in the running room talking about how "that fat girl" couldn't do any sit-ups or push-ups.
She took small steps to change her life.
Healthy diet
One of the first things she did was to give up Dr. Pepper, the soft drink.
"That is still my toughest breakup to date," says Kryfko.
After that, Kryfko made small, incremental changes to her diet.
She started ordering fast food without the cheese. And then start cutting out fried foods and made sure to stick to healthy portions.
And it has produced results. In a year and a half, she lost about 31 kg.
Still not done
But she's not done with her transformation.
"I'm still trying to get that six pack," said Kryfko.
