Police advice

In kidnap scams, victims will receive calls claiming that their loved ones have been kidnapped.

They may be asked to transfer money via a remittance agency
to avoid having their loved ones harmed.

Alternatively, they may be asked to place the ransom at specific locations for collection by kidnappers.

Police advise the public to be aware of such scams and to adopt the following measures:

  • Remain calm and contact your loved ones immediately to confirm their safety.
  • Do not transfer any money via remittance agencies, banks or any other means.
  • Call the police immediately at 999 to report the case.
