People paid their respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew in their own way.

Online and offline, the tributes flowed.

Some wrote in elaborate prose, others drew poignant sketches, but all of them were united in their grief at the passing of Singapore's first prime minister.

This simple but telling picture sent a little ray of sunshine through the gloomy clouds surrounding my heart... I'd given my little men free play with blank sheets of paper as they wanted to pay tribute to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew in their own way. My seven-year-old penned a long letter, thanking him for the #Singapore we now live in. My six-year-old decided to express his thoughts with pictures - he could not articulate why he drew what he drew, but he certainly communicated it clearly enough through his artwork - this represents to me, a beautiful picture of our #multicultural #heritage, where kids from all walks of life can play happily together as one big family. Those who wish to pay their respects to Mr Lee can do so until Saturday (March 28), 8pm, at the Parliament House.

The funeral will be held on Sunday (March 29).
