Rebuked but still fighting
In 2003, Dr Amy Khor (above) was rebuked by then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong for using the word "betrayal" in her speech during a debate on proposed CPF cuts when the Government decided not to restore the CPF cuts to 40 per cent as it had promised earlier.
But the rebuke did not stop her from speaking up again, Dr Khor told The New Paper yesterday.
In support of Ms Denise Phua speaking up in Parliament, Dr Khor said: "When we express considered views and opinions based on good reasoning, and not just rhetoric, it is our responsibility to represent Singaporeans and our residents to advocate change."
The Senior Minister of State for Health and Manpower added: "We may not agree with the views of the Government but debating is about the contest of ideas to come up with a good outcome."
