Sabah man slashes best friend to death for marrying prostitute

They were best friends - until a marriage got in the way.

Now one man is dead, killed after his best friend, 33, slashed him with a machete upon hearing that he had married a prostitute, Malaysian newspaper Harian Metro reported.

Rahman Puma, 47, died from severe injuries to the head and neck following last Friday's (Nov 14)  in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

The Star newspaper said Rahman had just started his car in front of a shared house when his attacker slashed his head - as the victim's six-year-old child screamed in horror.

Upon hearing the child's screams, Rahman’s wife and his colleague tried to break up the fight, but they too were attacked.

Ear severed

The colleague’s right ear was severed and Rahman's sustained head injuries.

The attacker then fled the scene.

Neighbours rushed the victims to hospital for treatment and alerted the police.

Lahad Datu OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Ahmad said the suspect was arrested about two hours later near the scene of the incident.

Police recovered a 70cm-long machete, which was believed to be the weapon used.
