Sheng Siong kidnap suspect has charge amended to lesser one
One of the two men who was allegedly involved in the Sheng Siong kidnap case has had his charge amended to a lesser one.
Heng Chen Boon, 51, a credit card promoter, was previously accused of abetting Lee Sze Yong, 41, in kidnapping grandmother Ng Lye Poh, then 79, on Jan 8 last year.
Under the Kidnapping Act, Heng faced the death penalty or life imprisonment.
But Heng's charge was amended today to one of abetting Lee in abducting Madam Ng.
If convicted, he now faces up to 10 years' jail and a fine.
