Rare for such a situation to happen, say ex-cops
Five days, three murders.
In the wee hours of Monday morning, Mr Gordon Yeo Han Tiong, 33, was pronounced dead, after being found with stab wounds on his upper body and face in his flat.
His 26-year-old wife was arrested.
In the following days, two more murders occurred, in Toa Payoh and Ang Mo Kio.
Two ex-cops told The New Paper that such a situation is extremely rare.
Mr Luke Lee, 62, a former police investigator who is now a lawyer, said: "I've never seen three murders in a week. In my division, we usually had murders once a month."
Former detective Dave Chan, 68, who is now an operation executive at Fuji Trading Singapore, said: "In this era, it is rare to find three murders in a week."
MONDAY, AUG 31: BUKIT PANJANG
Mr Gordon Yeo Han Tiong, 33, was found with stab wounds on his upper body and face in a four-room flat in Senja Road in the wee hours of Monday morning (Aug 31).
His wife, Vivien Teoh Yi Wen, 26, a human resource executive with the Ministry of Social and Family Development, was arrested. She was charged on Tuesday with the murder of her husband.
She allegedly caused the death of her husband at their flat in Senja Road between 11.32pm on Aug 30 and 12.51am the next day.
The couple, who have been married for about two years, have a year-old daughter.
No plea was taken from Teoh.
The prosecution sought to remand her for a week so the police could carry out further investigation.
Her lawyer, Mr Yusfiyanto Yatiman, did not object to the remand and was given permission to speak briefly to Teoh on some domestic matters.
Teoh, who will return to court on Sept 8, faces the death penalty if convicted.

THURSDAY, SEPT 3: TOA PAYOH LOR 2
Ms Atika Dolkifli, 23, (below) was found dead at a multi-storey carpark in Toa Payoh Lorong 2 on Thursday morning.
The police said they received a call for assistance at 8.19am and found Ms Atika lying motionless at Block 146A.
She was pronounced dead by paramedics at about 8.51am.
Bloodstains and what looked like a clump of hair were found near the staircase linking decks 3A and 3B of the carpark when The New Paper visited the scene later that day.
The accused, Syed Maffi Hasan, 24, was charged with her murder on Saturday (Sept 5).
The Sunday Times reported that Ms Atika is believed to have been killed three days before.
It quoted a report by Chinese paper Lianhe Wanbao which said Ms Atika referred to Syed Maffi as a friend on her social media accounts.
Ms Atika's father told The Sunday Times that he did not know the accused.
Syed Maffi faces the death penalty if convicted.
FRIDAY, SEPT 4: ANG MO KIO
A 39-year-old Malaysian man was yesterday charged with the murder of 48-year-old Tan Chin Siong.
Mr Tan was found lying motionless at a walkway near Ang Mo Kio MRT station on Friday morning.
A 10m trail of blood was seen along the walkway, which links the station to Cheng San Community Club.
Mr Tan died at Tan Tock Seng Hospital at 9.14am.
The younger man, who was arrested at the scene, also appeared to be injured and was taken to the same hospital.
The accused, Tan Chee Yeow, did not appear in court and will be remanded for three weeks at a medical facility, The Straits Times reported on its website yesterday.
