Amos Yee tells court he would not be testifying, case adjourned
On the first day of his trial, teenage blogger Amos Yee Pang Sang,16, said he would not be giving evidence in court.
After pleading not guilty to the charges of insulting Christianity and transmitting an obscene image, the 20-minute hearing was adjourned to Friday for the prosecution and his lawyers to make submissions.
Amos has spent a week in remand. He entered court today in handcuffs and leg restraints and looked calm during proceedings.
Yesterday (May 6), the teenager's application to alter his bail conditions were thrown out.
His lawyers had initially asked that the teen continue to be allowed to post information online, for the bail amount to be lowered and that their client not have to report to a police station daily.
The prosecution agreed to not having Amos report daily to the police, and to lowering his bail.
But on the condition he not put up any more posts on social media.
Amos did not agree to this. The defence counsel said going on social media was "like drinking water" to the teen.
