Body of newborn baby found at Tampines MRT
The body of a newborn baby was found in a bin in the female toilet of Tampines MRT station on Friday afternoon (June 3).
The baby - a boy - was found by 75-year-old toilet cleaner Madam Jumiati Binti Amat at around 1.30pm.
According to Madam Jumiati, the baby was found in the sanitary pad bin that was in one of the toilet's cubicles.
Madam Jumiati told The New Paper in Malay that she discovered the body inside a red plastic bag that was left open. The child was facing upwards, its eyes and mouth closed.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to an incident requiring ambulance assistance at that location at around 1.40pm.
Paramedics pronounced the baby dead upon arrival.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
