Bomb threat delays SIA passengers

This article is more than 12 months old

Passengers on a Singapore Airlines flight from San Francisco to Singapore via Hong Kong were delayed for several hours after landing at Changi Airport yesterday because of a bomb threat.

SQ1 landed at noon, but passengers were reportedly allowed to disembark only at 2pm. And they had to wait much longer than usual to collect their bags.

Some passengers sent out tweets while they were waiting.

The airline confirmed the incident and said the matter had been referred to the authorities.

The police found nothing suspicious on the plane or the passengers, Channel NewsAsia reported. They take a "very stern view" of "anyone who attempts to cause public alarm... by spreading hoaxes", it quoted them as saying.

Yesterday, a Turkish Airlines flight from New York to Istanbul was diverted to Halifax, Canada, after a bomb threat. No device was found, reported BBC.
