Boy watches as car ploughs into mum at Bt Panjang
The mother and son were standing on the pedestrian path along Senja Road in Bukit Panjang, waiting to cross the road yesterday (Aug 1).
It was about 5.30pm.
Suddenly, a car turning right came charging towards the pair.
A witness who wanted to be known only as Mr Huang told Shin Min Daily News:
"The woman and a boy who looked to be about 10 years old were waiting at the traffic lights to cross the road when the car suddenly appeared."
The sedan rammed into the woman.
The impact caused her to fly backwards. She landed about 10 metres away.
Mr Huang, 52, said:
"The boy saw the entire process when his mother was knocked down. He must have been very shocked.
"Several uncles and aunties who were passing by quickly went to comfort him."
The driver also got down to help and waited till an ambulance arrived.
A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer said a woman with head injuries was taken to the National University Hospital.
A boy who was suffering from shock was also hospitalised.
The police said investigations are ongoing.
