Cyclist's sentence reduced to three weeks
A cyclist who was originally jailed eight weeks for a rash act had his sentenced reduced to three weeks on Friday (Sept 18).
This after a surprise appeal by the prosecution to reduce the original sentence of Lim Choon Teck,35.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Prem Raj Prabakaran said this case was an unusual one.
He told Justice Chan Seng Onn this was the first time the prosecution appealed against a sentence that was manifestly excessive.
Lim was riding his bike on a pavement along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 at around 7.20pm on May 17 when he hit Madam Chng Kian, 69.
She suffered injuries including a fractured arm.
