Former social work associate jailed for molesting beneficiary
A former family service centre (FSC) employee was jailed four months on Monday (July 6) for molesting one of his beneficiaries.
As part of his work as a social work associate with an FSC in Ang Mo Kio, Veerasamy Marimuthu, 53, supported families living under the interim rental housing scheme.
At about 8.30am on Jan 5 this year, Veerasamy visited the victim's rental home to talk about her children's school needs.
They sat on the sofa and chatted when Veerasamy pulled her right hand with his right and stroked her back multiple times.
The woman felt Veerasamy touching her bra clasp when he asked why she did not allow him to kiss her.
Veerasamy tried to kiss her, and when she stood up in shock, Veerasamy asked her to at least let him hug her.
He hugged her and asked to meet again at noon at the FSC's office to speak about her food rations.
She did not meet him and reported the incident to the FSC.
Veerasamy was sacked on Jan 16.
