Girl given 18 months' probation for kicking cop at Paya Lebar Crescent
An 18-year-old girl, whose family was involved in a rental dispute at Paya Lebar Crescent in 2013, was given 18 months' probation on Tuesday (Sept 15).
Carmen Chng Jiawen had earlier pleaded guilty to one count each of mischief and voluntarily causing hurt to a policewoman by kicking her on June 6 that year.
Her lawyer, Mr R. Thrumurgan, his wife, Madam Priscilla Yip and Chng's mother, Ms Chng Leng Khim, were bonded a total of $5,000 to ensure her good behaviour.
Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, Mr Thrumurgan from Trident Law Corporation said Chng is now working as an administrative assistant in his firm.
He said: "She's prepared to change and if we can help, we should."
