Man arrested for attacking police officer
Police arrested a man in his 20s on Monday (June 8) night, following a scuffle at Junction 8 shopping centre in Bishan.
The man is believed to have thrown some punches at a police officer at around 9.30pm. He was subdued in the open area in the mall just outside the BreadTalk outlet.
An admin clerk, 25, who wanted to be known only as Nurul, said she heard that the man may have been drunk and the police had taken him down.
“When I reached there, the police had pinned him down already. There was a spatter of blood on the ground next to him. He was quiet, and later brought away conscious.”
Police said they received a call for assistance from a member of the public at 9.36pm, and subsequently arrested the man under suspicion of voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant.
The man was later taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital with a bloody nose. It is not known what injuries the police officer suffered.
Investigations are ongoing.
