Man gets jail for attacking sister
There had been bad blood between the siblings for years.
But things finally came to a head in 2013 when Vincent Lin Chuan Zu attacked his elder sister, Madam Lim Siew Kim, at the void deck of their mother's block.
Lin, then 45, was yesterday sentenced to six weeks' jail for the offence.
The court heard that on Sept 22, 2013, Lin came across his sister at the void deck of Block 107, Yishun Ring Road.
They got into an argument and Lin grabbed Madam Lim's hair from the front, then punched and kicked her several times. He also hit her head against a low wall at the void deck.
When Lin walked away, she called the police and was later taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for treatment.
A medical report showed that Madam Lim, who was 49 at the time, had bruises on her face, head and arm, cuts on her head and inside her lip, as well as a fracture on her left elbow.
Lin had a fracture on his right arm.
In mitigation, defence lawyer Jeffrey Beh said his client had been forced to resign from PSA in 2008 after a back injury and is now working as a limousine taxi driver.
Lin asked for some time to settle his personal matters and the judge agreed.
He will have to surrender himself to the court on July 16.
