Man recruits girl, 15, outside Starbucks, for sex
For the first time, a man was charged under the Prevention of Human Trafficking Act, on Thursday (April 23).
Muhammad Khairulanuar Rohmat, 24, is accused of recruiting a 15-year-old girl outside a Starbucks outlet on April 15, so he could sexually exploit her.
He then had consensual sex with her in the men's toilet on the 5th level of Cuppage Plaza between 4.30pm and 4.45pm that day.
Under the Prevention of Human Trafficking Bill, which was passed last year and came into force last month, it is an offence to recruit, transport, transfer, harbour or receive a child for exploitation.
