MSF officers visit woman who was slapped 4 times by daughter in video
The Ministry of Social and Family Development said it was working to ensure the safety of the woman who was slapped by her daughter in a video that has gone viral.
It said in a Facebook post on Tuesday night (July 21): "MSF officers have visited the elderly lady. We are looking into the case and working to ensure that the care needs of the elderly lady are met and that she is safe."
The ministry had said in an earlier post that it was working with police to "ensure that the victim receives the necessary care and support".
A video of the incident at a block of flats at Lower Delta Road went viral after Facebook user ApohTecky Numero posted it online.
In the clip, the 58-year-old woman is slapped by her 25-year-old daughter four times.
MSF said the police has classified the case as voluntarily causing hurt. Investigations are ongoing.
Minister Tan Chuan-Jin also posted to his Facebook explaining that details about the case could not be made public.
