OBS guard jailed 5 weeks for peeping in girls’ toilet
S. Ganesh Kumaar, 40, a security officer at the Outward Bound School (OBS), was jailed for five weeks yesterday for peeping at three 14-year-old girls who were bathing in one of its toilets.
The father of two children was employed by security firm Primo Guards and assigned to OBS to guard and patrol the premises from 7am till 7pm.
On Jan 20, the three victims, who were from the same secondary school, were attending a camp at OBS.
At about 3.40pm, Ganesh spotted them entering a female toilet.
He felt an urge to peep at them as they were showering and entered the toilet via the rear entrance.
As he entered the toilet, he spotted one of the girls coming out of a shower cubicle wrapped only in a towel.
The shocked girl dashed back into the cubicle.
Ganesh left the toilet but returned about 10 minutes later because he felt aroused.
He lay on the floor and peeped at the girls as they were showering.
He then noticed one of the girls was done showering and was about to exit her cubicle.
He hid in an empty cubicle and then walked out, claiming he was checking on some faulty toilet fittings.
The girls later reported the matter to their instructors and the OBS manager called the police the next day.
District Judge Luke Tan said in sentencing that Ganesh, as a security guard, was supposed to prevent crimes and protect the OBS participants, and had clearly offended during his duty hours.
