Police: No foul play in SGH hep C outbreak

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) have found no evidence of foul play with respect to the hepatitis C cluster outbreak at cleared Singapore General Hospital (SGHearlier this year.

A statement from the SPF read: "Pursuant to the police report lodged by the Singapore General Hospital... in relation to the hepatitis C cluster, police investigations have not revealed evidence to suggest any foul play.

"The Police have submitted their findings to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for review.

"The findings have also been shared with the Independent Review Committee (IRC) appointed by the Ministry of Health."

SGH announced in October that 25 of its kidney patients had contracted hepatitis C during their stay at Wards 64A and 67 from January to September this year.

Eight of the infected patients have died, with five of those deaths linked to the virus.
