More people in Singapore are saying "I do" to their version of happily-ever-after.

The number of marriages here rose 8.2 per cent in 2014, according to the Department of Statistics (Singstat) data released on Wednesday (July 29).

Here are the facts and figures, at a glance:

The number of divorces have decreased.

A total of 7,307 marriages ended last year through divorces or annulments.

More brides and grooms here are also taking their time to choose 'the one', opting to marry later in life.

The marriage rates of those getting hitched were the highest for those aged 30 - 34 years old.

In contrast, the peak age group for females in 2004 was 25 - 29 years.

Meanwhile, the groom's median age at first marriage went up from 29.4 years a decade ago to 30.2 years in 2014.

And for brides, the median age also went up from 26.7 years in 2004 to 28.2 years last year.
