Sabah quake: Last two Singaporean climbers confirmed dead

 Malaysian authorities have confirmed that the two Singaporean climbers unaccounted for following the Sabah quake are amongst those who perished. 

The Ministry of Education (MOE) said in a statement that Tanjong Katong Primary School student Navdeep Singh Jayral Raj Kumar and Mohammad Ghazi Bin Mohamed are amongst the persons who died at in the Mount Kinabalu tragedy.

The statement said: "Their next-of-kin have been informed. Their remains will return to Singapore upon completion of further forensic tests. This is expected to take some time. We will continue to provide support to the families during this difficult time."

MOE also thanked the Royal Malaysia Police, Malaysian Armed Forces and other authorities and individuals who have contributed to the search, rescue and recovery efforts for the students and teachers.

The search and rescue operations have now come to a close.

A total of 10 Singaporeans died in this tragedy.
