Two taken to hospital after accident on SLE
Two people in a lorry were injured in an accident on Seletar Expressway (SLE) on Tuesday morning after a driver crashed his sedan into the lorry.
The impact flipped the lorry first onto its side and then upside down.
The badly-damaged sedan ended up on the right side of SLE, in the direction of Woodlands, after the Yio Chu Kang exit.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force received a call at about 9.30am and sent an ambulance, said a spokesman.
Video posted online by Facebook user Benny Phang:
The lorry driver, 56, and passenger, 21, were taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
The 22-year-old male driver of the sedan was arrested in relation to the accident, said a police spokesman.
The impact was enough to send the car careening across two lanes. The bonnet was crushed and the windscreen was cracked.
As the lorry flipped on its side, it left a debris trail of wooden boards and painting supplies.
TRAFFIC JAM
Long streaks of red and white paint from the cargo could also be seen on the road.
Five of the six lanes on the expressway were littered with debris from the crash, causing a kilometre-long jam that stretched to the Tampines Expressway exit.
Traffic policemen were seen setting up cones and guiding vehicles away.
The police are investigating.
