Undergrad jailed for upskirt videos
A serial upskirt offender was yesterday sentenced to 36 weeks' jail.
Undergraduate Sng Qi Zhi, 26, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of intending to insult the modesty of a woman.
He had faced a total of 247 charges, of which 47 were committed after he was first charged in court last November.
The court heard that Sng would take videos of a female tenant in his Bedok home while she was showering.
Sng's offences came to light in December 2012 when he was caught by security staff at Bugis Junction while trying to take upskirt videos of a woman.
The authorities were alerted and in a raid on Sng's Bedok home, the police seized a black Samsung S3 mobile phone and a computer, which contained a total of 1,888 upskirt videos and 76 videos of people showering.
Sng admitted that he had started taking the videos in 2007 and would target women in short skirts.
Last Dec 19, while out on bail, he was caught taking upskirt videos at Plaza Singapura.
