This week, footage of a woman kicking, hitting and cursing a wailing man on a Hong Kong street sparked debate.

Now, there's a Singapore version making the rounds too.

A video of a long-haired woman slapping a man at Yishun while he clings to a suitcase can be found online.

The drama took place at Block 245 Yishun Ave 9 at about 12.50pm yesterday (July 31).

Housewife Yatie, 45, captured the violence and sent the clip to Stomp.

In it, a man dressed in an orange top and blue jeans kneels as a woman appears to berate him. Then she slaps his face.

A second slap follows and he almost falls to the ground.

Shin Min Daily News quoted the housewife saying:

"I heard someone shouting in a fierce manner and looked out of the window.

"That's when I saw a couple arguing. The woman was dragging a blue suitcase away and the man kept trying to stop her."

The woman, dressed in a black top and hot pants, slapped the man at least another four more times.

Fearing the violence would escalate out of control, Yatie called the police.

She told Shin Min the man appeared to be serenading someone after 1am several nights ago

"He was standing on the ground then, facing a particular flat.

"He sang in English and Mandarin for about two hours and would squat when he seemed tired."

TNP understands that no arrests were made.

The couple claimed they were visiting friends in the estate.

Residents said they saw police officers patrolling the area.
