Singapore Red Cross flag day

This article is more than 12 months old

Today is Singapore Red Cross (SRC) Flag Day 2014.

The annual event, which involves a series of fund-raising efforts including street collections, will be held at public locations across the island.

The event will run from 1pm to 6pm.

This year, because the collection takes place a day after Valentine's Day, volunteers are encouraged to help out at Flag Day with their loved ones. Couples are urged to join to share their love with beneficiaries and make Valentine's Day extra meaningful.

The theme for this year is "You Make A Difference".

SRC hopes to raise $500,000 to benefit local humanitarian services that help the disabled, elderly and disadvantaged, and to also provide training for its volunteers.
