About wedding insurance
Couples can buy wedding insurance to protect themselves from last-minute emergencies before and up to their special day.
There are various types of wedding insurance.
An insurance policy can cover monetary loss from postponement, cancellation and abandonment of the wedding due to accident, illness or inclement weather.
Some insurance packages also cover reimbursement in case one of the service providers closes down weeks or months before the wedding.
In Singapore, the average cost of a wedding falls between $30,000 and $50,000, according to local lifestyle and personal finance website GET.com.
Adele Duxton is a wedding company that includes wedding insurance as part of its packages.
The insurance covers reimbursement for data corruption of wedding photos and videos, damage to wedding attire, unreasonable delay of floral arrangements and even loss of wedding rings on the wedding day.
Adele Duxton's founder and director, Ms Adeline Tan, told TNP: "Our insurance covers our own services, and services from our affiliated vendors. This includes photography, videography and even wedding attire services."
Pacific Insurance Brokers, which started their services last year, offers policies which include financial protection for the couple in case of damage to equipment or wedding attire, and even cancellation, abandonment or postponement of the event.
