This article is more than 12 months old

A car caught fire along the CTE towards the AYE, after the Balestier exit, early Sunday afternoon (April 17).

Mr Edmund Chng was on the way to Bukit Timah Road to drop his girlfriend off at work when they passed by the fire.

"I saw a man who looked Caucasian and who was standing at the side of the road looking at the car," said Mr Chng, 35, a sales manager.

He added the man looked to be in his 40s and did not appear to be injured.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the fire at about 1pm and deployed one fire engine and two Red Rhino vehicles.

The fire, which involved the engine compartment of the car, was extinguished using one water jet.

An SCDF spokesman said that no one was injured.
