Car catches fire at AMK carpark

A car at an Ang Mo Kio carpark ended up a blackened heap after it caught fire on Tuesday afternoon.

No one was injured in the incident, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said.

SCDF was alerted to the fire at Block 609, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4, at 4.38pm.

The fire was from the engine compartment and was extinguished using one water jet and a fire extinguisher.

Residents near the block said they heard several loud bangs as the car burned, Shin Min Daily News reported.

BURN MARKS

There were burn marks on a lorry and a car that were parked next to the burning car, the report added.

This is the third case of a car catching fire in an HDB carpark in four days.

On Sunday morning, the SCDF was called in to extinguish another car fire at an open carpark near Block 464, Tampines Street 44.

The fire, which occurred at about 4.40am, was extinguished using one water jet.
