CNY light-up this weekend

Chinatown will usher in the Year of the Monkey with its official light-up and opening ceremony on Saturday between 6pm and 10pm.

President Tony Tan Keng Yam will switch on the street decorations featuring rows of peach trees, monkeys, spring blossoms and gold zodiac coins.

There will also be acrobatic displays by troupes from China and Singapore, with the performers emulating the dexterity of monkeys by climbing poles and hanging off them, as well as a fireworks display.


The height of Tanjong Pagar Centre, which will be Singapore's tallest building when it is completed by the middle of the year, said GuocoLand Group yesterday. The $3.2 billion integrated mixed-use development sits above Tanjong Pagar MRT station.
