Company choose TNP Courts Big Walk for outing
No one takes up $50 wager to overtake him at The Big Walk
He wanted to make a bet with his younger colleagues, but no one was keen to take him on.
Mr Steven Chong, 68, offered a $50 reward to anyone who can overtake him at The New Paper Courts Big Walk.
The cash prize, he said, is just his way of adding more fun to the event.
The founder of Bits n Bytes Marketing said: "I just want them (his colleagues) to have some outdoor activities as a team and enjoy themselves."
And the possible reason why no one was keen?
Mr Chong has climbed mountains like Bhutan's Tiger's Nest and Chakpori Hill in Tibet.
Bits n Bytes Marketing sells printing equipment and paper and provides printing services.
Ad hoc company outings are organised for its employees so they can enjoy themselves while bonding with one another.
Miss Allison Ng, 29, a purchaser, said: "We went to Lotte World (in South Korea) and even tried churros (a sweet, fried-dough pastry).
"All of us got to know one another better."
BONDING
Mr Chong said: "I have always gone with them. I also try to take some of them to overseas exhibitions to let them gain more knowledge, but it is a shame we cannot bring all of them along."
It is the first time they are participating in the Big Walk, said Mr Chong.
Miss Ng said: "I love animals, so when I heard about it, I said yes on the spot.
"I also bought four tickets to go to the River Safari with my friends. It is so cheap because it is only $8 instead of (the usual price of) over $30."
The animal lover said that the last time she went to the River Safari was when it first opened in 2012.
She said: "I really liked it, so I'm looking forward to going back and seeing the new animals they have."
Miss Ng is particularly looking forward to meeting giant pandas, Jia Jia and Kai Kai.
Mr Benjamin Tan, a senior manager in his 40s, said: "I am more used to running competitively, but I guess we can slowly walk and take in the surroundings and sights."
