First of five mega pre-schools

Seven times the size of an average childcare centre in an HDB void deck, it can take in about 500 children aged between two months and six years old.

With a land area of 5,000 sq m and a built-up area of 3,705 sq m, the E-Bridge Pre-School campus at Edgedale Plains in Punggol opens it doors on May 16.

It is one of five large childcare centres that anchor operators are building across the island to meet the needs of young families in Singapore.

E-Bridge Pre-School's innovative architectural design features five dedicated pods for water play, sand play and construction, performing art and a food atelier, said the pre-school in a press release yesterday. Each of the semi-circular pods can be isolated in case of infection.

A central passageway creates a "through air ventilation" for all levels of the campus. Each pod also has a high volume low speed fan that further ventilates the campus. The campus will be the first in Singapore to adopt a mass temperature infrared measurement system.
