Limited-edition commemorative medallion featuring iconic sites in S'pore is among the $880 worth of goodies
Walkers at next month's SG50 Jubilee Big Walk will have a golden souvenir to help them remember that they were part of a historic event.
Among the many wonderful items in their goodie bags will be a limited-edition commemorative medallion.
The medallion, which is gold in colour and measures 50mm in diameter, has two designs on its faces.
The front features iconic sites that Walkers will pass along the Walk, such as The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay and Parliament House.
On the other side is the SG50 sign, to remind Walkers that they were part of an event that was a round up of Singapore's SG50 celebrations.
The medallions are manufactured by Eng Leong Medallic Industries, which specialises in making medals.
EXCITED
One walker who is excited about getting the medallion is Madam Lakshmy Bhaskar, 52, a part-time lecturer at the National University of Singapore.
She said: "It's great that I get to keep an SG50 medallion because I can reflect on it and pass it on to my family."
Madam Lakshmy feels that she is able, through this event, to show her support for Singapore, even if it is in a small way.
Another participant, Mr Sridhar Ganesan, 30, a technical officer who took part in last year's Big Walk, said he decided to sign up again this year as he feels that the Walk encourages him to lead an active lifestyle.
On getting the medallion, Mr Sridhar, said: "I'm excited to receive the medallion as I can show to others that I have taken part in this wonderful SG50 event."
The father of a seven-month-old daughter also hopes to show it to her when she is old enough.
The SG50 Jubilee Big Walk 2015 will take place on Nov 29 at 7am.
The Walk, which starts at the National Museum of Singapore and ends at Gardens by the Bay, is jointly presented by People's Association and The New Paper.
