Man, 68, charged with wife's murder

A 68-year-old man was charged yesterday with the murder of his wife, Madam Wong Chik Yeok, 63, at their Compassvale Crescent HDB flat.

Kong Peng Yee is said to have murdered his wife between 11am and 4.35pm on Sunday.

Police received a call for assistance shortly after.

Madam Wong was found motionless in a pool of blood in the living room of their five-room flat.

She was pronounced dead at 5pm.

Yesterday, Kong was charged at Changi General Hospital and will undergo psychiatric evaluation.

He is expected to be back in court on April 5.

If convicted of murder, he faces the death penalty.
