Man crushed to death between truck and wall
No one really knew what happened but the freak accident on Friday claimed the life of Mr Chun Kum Soon.
The 42-year-old was trapped between a diesel truck and a concrete wall at a construction site in Sengkang, and he died on the spot.
According to Chinese evening daily Shin Min Daily News, Mr Chun had parked his truck at the site of The Vales executive condominium at the junction of Anchorvale Street and Anchorvale Crescent.
He had reportedly alighted from the truck to get the oil pipe so that he could refill diesel into an excavator.
For some reason, the vehicle's handbrake was not engaged,and it started to move forward.
It seemed that Mr Chun could not dodge in time.
A Singapore Civil Defence Force spokesman told The New Paper on Sunday that it was alerted to the incident at about 3.30pm.
"Rescuers immediately stabilised the truck and manually pulled him out within 30 minutes," said the spokesman.
Mr Chun was pronounced dead at scene by paramedics.
TNPS understands that he was working for a Singapore-based company specialising in authorised dealership of petroleum and lubricant products from leading oil companies.
SOLE BREADWINNER
Shin Min Daily News reported that Mr Chun was a sole breadwinner.
He leaves behind a four-year-old son and his wife, who is her 30s.
Mr Chun's brother-in-law, Mr Hong Sen Sheng,told reporters: "The boy noticed that his father didn't return home last night. He kept crying and asking for his dad."
Mr Hong added that after getting the bad news, Mr Chun's wife could neither sleep nor eat and kept crying.
Police investigations are ongoing.
