Man slashes neighbour with knife for being noisy
A 77-year-old man who slashed his neighbour's face with a fruit knife was yesterday made to undergo a year's treatment under the Mandatory Treatment Order (MTO).
Goh Tien Hin had earlier pleaded guilty to one count of voluntarily causing hurt to Mr Seng Kok Hui, 71, on Oct 8, 2014.
Court papers said that Goh was at his Lengkok Bahru home when he heard noises coming from the unit above his. He went to Mr Seng's unit armed with a wooden rod and a 22cm-long fruit knife.
After an argument, Goh hit Mr Seng with the rod. He also used the knife to slash Mr Seng's face near his chin.
Mr Seng was later taken to hospital, where he was treated for the wound measuring about 5cm.
Under MTO, offenders must attend compulsory treatment sessions with psychiatrists assigned by the Health Ministry and Institute of Mental Health.
