MOF seeking public feedback on Budget 2017

This article is more than 12 months old

Singaporeans are being asked to give their views on the upcoming Budget 2017.

The Ministry of Finance said it is keen to gather feedback from individuals, households, and businesses "on issues such as how we can best develop Singaporeans, support families, and help local companies grow through innovation and internationalisation".

The public can give their views through various channels. They can submit their views online from today at government feedback unit Reach's microsite at www.reach.gov.sg/budget2017.

Singaporeans can also give feedback in person at Listening Points across the island. These will be located in easily accessible public areas such as the Marine Parade Central Promenade, Chevron House, Our Tampines Hub and Hougang Hawker Centre among others.

Details are available on the Reach microsite.

The government feedback unit will also be hosting a Pre-Budget 2017 Conversation on Dec 7, to allow members of the public to discuss ideas.

The event will be attended by Senior Minister of State for Finance and Law Indranee Rajah, and Reach supervisory panel vice-chairman Vikram Nair.

There will also be a live question and answer session on Jan 4 from 8pm to 9.30pm on Reach's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/REACHSingapore).

This will be chaired by Mr Liang Eng Hwa, the chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for Finance and Trade and Industry, and Ms Foo Mee Har, a member of the GPC. Reach can also be contacted on Twitter at @REACH-Singapore, via e-mail at reach@reach.gov.sg, or on the toll-free hotline 1800-353-5555.

The feedback exercise will close on Jan 13. The Budget 2017 website is now up at www.singaporebudget.gov.sg.
